VERO BEACH — A man was arrested after he stabbed another man five times at his home and left him with possible life threatening injuries, according to Indian River County deputies.
Aaron Lee DeLuca, 41, of the 400 block of 25th Avenue, Vero Beach, was charged with attempted murder and trespassing. He is being held at the Indian River County Jail on $20,500 bond, according to the Indian River County Sheriff’s Office.
Deputies spoke with the the man who was stabbed about 6 p.m. July 2 at the Indian River Medical Center, an arrest report states. The man told them he was sitting on his front porch at his home in the 1000 block of Old Dixie Highway Southwest, Vero Beach, when DeLuca pulled up on a bicycle and asked him “wanna get some with a real man?”
The man said he told DeLuca to leave because he was trespassing, but DeLuca refused and said “I’m not leaving. I’m gonna kick your ass.”
Then, the two fought and afterwards, the man noticed he had been stabbed multiple times, the report states. Deputies spoke with an emergency room physician at the medical center, who told them the man was stabbed twice in the right chest, twice in the stomach and once in the lower right abdomen.
The physician told deputies the man’s injuries “could be life threatening,” the report states.
Deputies then went to DeLuca’s home, arrested him and sent him to the county jail for booking.
The knife was found 20 yards away from where the two fought, deputies said. Information on the relationship between the man and DeLuca was not immediately available.
