Dorothy R. (Shearer) King, 85, previously of Vero Beach passed away Sept. 16, 2016.
She had three grandchildren and three great-grand children.
She is predeceased by her husband and daughters, Sandy and Julia.
King moved to Graham, Wash., from her home in Vero Beach in 2014 to live with her son Richard A. King and his husband Richard E. Patterson. In July of 2016 she entered Brookdale Courtyard Assisted Living where she resided until her death at age 85.
She was born in 1931 to Robert and Bertha Shearer in Lattasburg, Ohio, the eighth of 10 children.
She worked as a registered nurse in Labor and Delivery at Indian River Medical Center in Vero Beach until her retirement in 1992.
King was a long time member of St. Helens Catholic Church in Vero Beach.
She married Richard W. King in 1951 in Cortland, Ohio. They had six children: Deborah Koenig, Sandy King, Julia King, Richard A King, Becky King and Jodi Lloyd.
Donations may be made out to IRMC in Vero Beach to go to the neo-natal unit.
There will be a private graveside service Oct. 28, 2016 at Aycock Hillcrest Cemetary in Fort Pierce.
