Genealogical Society presents ‘Blogs and Family Websites’ Sept. 13

INDIAN RIVER COUNTY — The Indian River Genealogical Society (IRGS) is proud to announce two of its members, Mary Foxworthy and Bob Inhoff, will be the program speakers at the regular monthly meeting on Sept. 13, 2016.

This lecture is to be held at the Indian River County Main Library, 1600 21st Street, Vero Beach. The business meeting convenes at 9:30 a.m., followed by light refreshments and the program. This meeting is free and open to the public.

Inhoff is the IRGS technology committee chair as well as the IRGS webmaster. He brings years of experience in presenting technological material to the Society’s membership meetings. He is the author of the popular Tech Tips found at www.irgs.org.”

Foxworthy is the IRGS Education Committee Chair. She also has many years of teaching experience in the field of technology, before joining IRGS. She promotes the educational component of a good genealogical researcher. In addition to overseeing the activities of the various special interest groups at IRGS, Foxworthy created the newest group, Beginning Genealogy.

This lecture will explore ways in which IRGS members and others use the web to share their genealogical research and family stories. Inhoff and Foxworthy will discuss the benefits of having a presence on the web as your family’s historian and researcher. They will demonstrate various blogs, including how to create one of your own in order to find all those lost cousins. We will also explore web sites created by our IRGS members.
