Master’s Academy graduates largest class in history of the school

INDIAN RIVER COUNTY — Master’s Academy of Vero Beach will graduate the largest class in the history of the school. Founded in 1998, Master’s has graduated a total of 59 students over the past seven years.

The first class of five students graduated in 2009. Soon, 20 more names will be added to the list of Master’s Academy alumni when the class of 2016 marches across the stage.

Ten young men and 10 young women will be recognized for their achievement on Sunday, May 29, at 4 p.m. in the First Church of God worship center. David Holtzhouse, Regional Director of the Association of Christian Schools International, through which Master’s Academy is accredited, will be the keynote speaker.

The 2016 graduating class has earned numerous scholarships. Almost all of those graduating intend to pursue a post-secondary education. Colleges that have extended acceptances to the seniors include: University of Miami, Auburn University, Florida State University, University of Georgia, Stetson University, Samford University, Southeastern University, Abilene Christian University, Furman University, Kentucky Christian University, Palm Beach Atlantic University, and Indian River State College.

A Master’s Academy graduate not only takes core classes and electives, but seniors are required to research, write, and defend a thesis topic and present it to a panel of community and school leaders. This project marks the culmination of a Master’s Academy student’s high school career and well prepares students for college level coursework.

Members of this year’s senior class presented on topics including The Endangerment of and Need to Preserve the Principle of Self-Government, How Has the Breakdown of the Family Led to the Moral Breakdown in America, and The Downfall of Education in America: From Biblical Principles to Common Core.

Master’s Academy offers excellence in academics, the arts, athletics, and service and has been serving Indian River County since 1998. Located on the southwest corner of 58th Avenue and 12th Street in Vero Beach, Master’s Academy provides students with a Biblical worldview education in preschool through 12th grade.

The community is invited to attend the graduation ceremony on May 29. For more information, call (772) 794-4655 or visit us at mastersvb.org.
