Vero Beach High School Orchestra raises funds for Vienna tour with concert June 18

VERO BEACH — The Vero Beach High School (VBHS) Philharmonic Orchestra will perform their Summer Sounds concert on June 18, at 4 p.m. in the First Presbyterian Church located at 520 Royal Palm Boulevard.

The Orchestra will play an arrangement of classical composers featuring Tchaikovsky, Mozart and Schubert. Students of the Vero Beach High School Philharmonic orchestra will be joined by several alumni musicians. The performance is free and an offering will be taken to raise funds for the orchestra’s first international tour to the capital of classical music, Vienna, Austria.

Recently, the VBHS Orchestra received an invitation to represent the state of Florida in the 2017 American Celebration of Music in Austria. The student musicians will perform concerts in Salzburg, Innsbruck and Vienna in late May and early June of next year. Students have begun fundraising efforts and are extremely grateful for the support of the local community.

“Our students are grateful for the support of the local community, donors and patrons who believe in the investment of today’s youth.” said Matt Stott, VBHS Orchestra Director. “The concert will help provide our students an experience beyond their wildest dreams; representing our community and state, performing in the very place so much of the music we study was created.”
