United Way recognizes Marine Bank’s Karl Williams for exceptional leadership

INDIAN RIVER COUNTY — The United Way of Indian River County recently awarded Karl Williams, Commercial/Government Guaranteed Lender for Marine Bank & Trust, with its Chairman’s Award for Exceptional Leadership on behalf of the organization. In addition to serving as a board member and executive board member, Williams also contributed to the Finance and Joint Audit committee and Citizens Review Committee.

Last September, Williams chaired the United Way’s Day of Caring and achieved tremendous results as more than 300 volunteers donated manpower to 31 projects and 22 local non-profits. More recently, he served on the 3rd Annual Jackie Robinson Celebration Game committee which marked the 69th anniversary of Jackie Robinson’s Major League debut with the Brooklyn Dodgers, as he broke the color barrier in 1947 to become the first African-American to play Major League Baseball.

“Marine Bank could not ask for a better community ambassador,” said Bill Penney, President and CEO of Marine Bank. “With commercial lending on the rise, we are amazed that he is able to provide our high standard of service to our customers while giving so much back to the community at the same time. It’s an impressive model for our team to follow.”

“The United Way Board of Directors is an impressive group of skilled, experienced, and caring members. Karl has stepped up as a leader who goes above and beyond to fulfill commitments. We can count on Karl to do the right thing with thoughtfulness and dedication. He certainly is deserving of this award,” said Randy Riley, Immediate Past Board Chair.
