Walking Tree Brewery’s debut delayed

VERO BEACH — It’s going to take another two months or so until Walking Tree Brewery opens in a former Navy warehouse near Vero Beach Regional Airport.

The owners of the new craft beer operation at 3209 Dodger Rd. were hoping to christen the facility in either April or May, but delays in receiving a federal brewer’s permit is pushing back the debut, said Alan Dritenbas, one of the new brewery’s owners.

Without the federal permit, Walking Tree cannot draw approval from the state, Dritenbas said.

At this point, Walking Tree Brewery is expecting to open in early June, he said.

Walking Tree is part of a craft beer industry growth on the Treasure Coast. Vero Beach’s current craft brewery, Orchid Island Brewery on Ocean Drive, specializes in citrus IPAs.

About 15 miles to the south, Sailfish Brewery is celebrating its third anniversary at its 407 N. 2nd St. in downtown Fort Pierce.
