Hit and run suspect arrested after injuring pedestrian

INDIAN RIVER COUNTY — One person was injured early Sunday morning in a hit and run crash at the Vero Social Club (former Polish American Club.)

The victim is expected to survive, but did receive a laceration on their head. They were taken to Holmes Regional Medical Center.

The driver fled the scene after the crash and was stopped later by an Indian River County Sheriff’s Deputy, according to their Spokesman Sgt. Eric Flowers. The case has been turned over to the Florida Highway Patrol.

During the arrest, the suspect confessed to hitting the pedestrian, according to authorities. 

The incident occurred at 7500 US Highway 1, Vero Beach.
