Husband too tired for work assaulted with belt

FELLSMERE — A Fellsmere woman was arrested Wednesday morning for battery after she struck her husband with a belt because he was too tired to get up and go to work, according to the police report.

Yessenia Zamarripa, 25, of 10093 Meadows Court, Fellsmere, now faces one misdemeanor charge for battery domestic violence.

The victim told authorities that he was lying in bed on his stomach Wednesday morning when his wife got angry and struck him on the back with a belt. Authorities noted a welt on the victim’s shoulder blade.

Zamarripa was walking her children to the bus stop when authorities arrived, but when she returned she confirmed the altercation.

She told authorities she became angry when her husband said he was too tired to go to work, and struck him with a belt. She added she was tired and stressed over financial issues.

Zamarripa is being held in the Indian River County Jail.
