Orchid Island Crossfit announces event to benefit Veterans Council Feb. 13

INDIAN RIVER COUNTY — Orchid Island Crossfit is pleased to announce the first “Hump for our Vet’s” event to benefit the Veterans Council of Indian River County.

Participants in this event will experience a small part of what it means to be a member of our nation’s Armed Services. They will load up a backpack or rucksack with weight and form a team that “humps” from a starting point at Orchid Island Crossfit to Veteran’s Island Memorial at Riverside Park.

In addition to the weight each participant will carry, there will be team weights to simulate the extra equipment our soldiers must carry to successfully complete their mission.

The participants will then return to the starting point and be hosted at a BBQ, provided by Orchid Island Crossfit. The event is open to people of all fitness levels as long as they are physically able to walk a total of nine miles.

The event will take place on Feb. 13, 2016 at 9 a.m. To participate, a donation of $25 (individual) or $40 (family) is requested. All proceeds from this event will be presented to the Veteran’s Council of Indian River County at a presentation ceremony at the end of the event.

Register for this event by contacting the Hump for our Vet’s organizer, Bruce Cady at (772) 559-7774 or bruce.cady@gmail.com.
