School District announces Teacher, School-Related Employee of the Year

INDIAN RIVER COUNTY — Superintendent of Schools Dr. Mark Rendell announced the Indian River County School District’s 2017 Teacher of the Year and 2016 School Related Employee of the Year on Jan. 21 at a gala held in the Performing Arts Center at Sebastian River High School.

Rachel Moree, former eighth grade language arts teacher at Storm Grove Middle School, was named the County’s 2017 Teacher of the Year.

Moree graduated from Florida Atlantic University & American College of Education. She previously taught for six years at Sebastian Middle School and has taught at Storm Grove for three years.

Elaine Dobson, school health assistant at Sebastian Elementary School was named 2016 School-Related Employee of the year.

Dobson, of Scotland, graduated from Edinburgh Napier University, UK, and has been at Sebastian Elementary for three years.

Both winners will now enter competitions for Florida Teacher of the Year and Florida School Related Employee of the Year.
