Ballet Vero Beach begins Season with Chicago Repertory Ballet Aug. 9

VERO BEACH — The first program of Ballet Vero Beach’s 2015-2016 Season soars into Riverside Theatre Sunday, Aug. 9 at 2 p.m. and 7 p.m. Ballet Vero Beach, in partnership with Riverside Theatre, is thrilled to present Chicago Repertory Ballet in the company’s first ever tour. Tickets are $10-$50 and are available online at www.balletverobeach.org, or by calling the Riverside Theatre Box Office at (772) 231-6990.

Chicago Repertory Ballet is the Windy City’s hot, young, contemporary ballet group, and they have taken their hometown by storm. Performances in Vero Beach will feature artistic director Wade Schaaf’s arresting “The Four Seasons” set to Max Richter’s retooling of the famous Antonio Vivaldi score. Schaaf’s “Dancer, Net (3)” will round out the program along with “Still Life” by Tenley Dorrill, and “It’s Not Enough To Close Your Eyes” by Jacqueline Stewart.

The company’s appearance in Vero will mark the culmination of the fourth annual Riverside Dance Festival. Last year’s stellar performances by L.A. Contemporary Dance Company left audiences cheering for more, and the Chicago troupe is sure to elicit a similar response. Chicago Repertory Ballet’s performances in Vero Beach are sponsored in part by the State of Florida, Department of State, Division of Cultural Affairs and the Florida Council on Arts and Culture, and by a grant from South Arts, in partnership with the National Endowment for the Arts.

As an added treat, Ballet Vero Beach is planning a Summer Sunday Supper between performances. Patrons will be able to dine on classic southern fare from Osceola Bistro while mingling with the artistic staff of Ballet Vero Beach, and the visiting dancers and staff from Chicago Repertory Ballet. Tickets for the Summer Sunday Supper are $35 for adults and $15 for children. The Summer Sunday Supper is made possible by Girls on Pointe, and George E. Warren Corporation.
