Navy SEAL Museum hosts Memorial Day ceremony May 25

INDIAN RIVER COUNTY — Please join in honoring service men and women who have made the ultimate sacrifice. The Navy SEAL Memorial currently holds the names of 283 men who have died in the line of duty serving this great nation. Five additional names will be added to the granite wall on Monday, May 25, 2015 starting at 10 a.m. Guest speakers Commissioner Tod Mowery and Lt. Col. Tim Nichols, USMC (Ret), will be welcomed by MBCM Rick Kaiser USN SEAL (Ret), Executive Director of the Museum.

The ceremony, steeped in tradition, will include a tribute to all five military branches. Reverend Mike Shockey, Chaplain USN (Ret) will give the invocation and prayers of remembrance. A bagpiper, Color Guard, a presentation of Colors by St. Lucie West Centennial H.S. Navy JROTC and wreath laying will round out the day’s ceremonies.

The Navy SEAL Museum will also be hosting a Flag Retirement Ceremony at 9 a.m. the same day, preceding the ceremonies above. Those who cannot attend the ceremony can drop off tattered and unused flags at the SEAL Museum any time.
