Humane Society puts on ‘Cooking for your Pet’ workshop March 7

INDIAN RIVER COUNTY — Learn to make a healthy and tasty meal for pets during the March 7, “Cooking for your Pet” workshop offered at the Humane Society of Vero Beach and Indian River County.

The free class is taught by Sebastian veterinarian and pet cookbook writer Dr. Amy Cousino. Author of “How to Cook for your Pet,” Cousino will be discussing the benefits of home cooking for companion animals, reveal which foods are healthy and which are unsafe for pets to consume, and elaborate on some of the pitfalls of commercially prepared pet foods.

Cousino’s presentation will also include a cooking demonstration. The “Cooking for Your Pet” workshop will be held Saturday, March 7 from 1 to 3 p.m. at the shelter’s Adoption and Education building located at 6230 77th St., Vero Beach.

This program is free of charge however guests are asked to call (772) 571-6418 to reserve seating.

Donations to the Humane Society of Vero Beach and Indian River County of money, pet food and supplies and gently used sheets, towels and blankets are always welcome. The Humane Society of Vero Beach and Indian River County is a nonprofit organization dedicated to helping and protecting the animals of Indian River County.
