Historic Fellsmere tour to benefit Heritage Center, Jan. 21

FELLSMERE — Join local historians for a historic tour of Fellsmere on Jan. 21. Named for E. Nelson Fell, a 1913 land sales brochure described the city’s unusual name as a combination of the founder’s name Fell and the word mere, which means “a watery place.

Fellsmere has gone from just being known as a farming and ranching community to also becoming a culturally diverse community boasting a variety of businesses, restaurants, nature and wildlife centers as well as unique events such as the Annual Fellsmere Frog Festival. Dine at the popular and authentic old Florida restaurant, Marsh Landings. Cost is $55 per person and does not include cost of lunch.

Proceeds will benefit the Heritage Center and Indian River Citrus Museum.
