Space Coast Symphony Orchestra presents Sci-Fi Concert

VERO BEACH — The Space Coast Symphony Orchestra will “beam up” science fiction fans for “Out of this World: Part Deux,” a concert featuring movie scores and on-screen film clips of the genre’s biggest blockbusters at 3 p.m. on Sunday, Jan. 4, at the Vero Beach Performing Arts Center, 1707 16th Street, 32960.

Attendees don’t have to speak Ferengi or even understand Wookiee to appreciate the music of Star Wars, E.T: The Extra-Terrestrial, Star Trek and Close Encounters of the Third Kind. Add the thrilling score to Alien 3 and James Horner’s magical suite from Cocoon and the concert kicks into hyperdrive, free for those aged 18 and under or with a college student ID.

Advance tickets are available for $20 through the orchestra website at www.SpaceCoastSymphony.org or at several convenient ticket outlets, including Marine Bank & Trust (beachside and mainland branches) and Madison Avenue Consignments. Tickets at the door are $25. Call toll free to (855) 252-7276 for more information.

Space Coast Symphony Orchestra Artistic Director, Aaron T. Collins loves the enthusiasm of sci-fi fans. “The first Sci-fi concert was so much fun, we had to do it again,” said Collins. “We’ve seen Star Trek uniforms, an R2-D2 costume made out of cardboard and a light saber duel in the aisle. Music is our transporter.”
