Emerson Center presents postage stamp art Jan., Feb.

VERO BEACH — From Jan. 1 through Feb. 28, the Emerson Center’s expanded Foyer Gallery of Art will exhibit the postage stamp collages of Russell J. Hahn as well as rare collages from his collection. Postage stamp art is a unique art form dating back to the 1800s.

After several years painting and selling tropical flower watercolors, Hahn began creating postage collage art in 2000 at age 68. He prefers using small pieces of stamps to create real places and things, and his collages sometimes are mistaken for a painting from just a few feet away.

The Foyer Gallery recently doubled the size of its wall space. Gallery hours are Monday through Friday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., Sundays 10 a.m. to 12 p.m., and before public programs. For information, call Foyer Gallery director Ellen Rantz at (772) 581-5904 or the Emerson Center at (772) 778-5249. The Emerson Center, 1590 27th Avenue, is located on the southeast corner of 27th Avenue and 16th Street.
