VNA Free Event: ‘What Happens When You Become the Unexpected Caregiver’ Nov. 18

VERO BEACH — It’s an all-too-familiar scenario for millions of adults: mom and dad are getting older and need a little help with their day-to-day activities. Maybe they have a chronic illness and need care they cannot provide for themselves, or they can no longer live on their own. What happens next?

The VNA of the Treasure Coast is offering a free, informative event for those looking for information on how to prepare for and manage the role of being a caregiver.

On Tuesday, Nov. 18, local long term chronic healthcare planner, Todd Heckman, CLU, ChFC, CFP, AEP, will share his insights and expertise on how to prepare for the role of family caregiver and what to do when the caregiver role comes unexpectedly.

He will guide attendees through understanding legal and financial matters, possible long term options, and support and resources available to assist in the caregiving journey. A question and answer session will follow the presentation.

The event begins at 5:30 p.m. at First Presbyterian Church (McAfee Hall), 520 Royal Palm Blvd., Vero Beach. There is no cost to attend and the event is open to the public. Snacks and refreshments will be provided.
