Relay for Life is a way to celebrate, remember and fight back against cancer. Funds raised at Relay for Life of the Beaches help the American Cancer Society to impact the lives of those touched by cancer. The Relay for Life of the Beaches raised over $65,000 to help the American Cancer Society save more lives by helping people stay well, by helping them get well, by finding cures, and by fighting back.

This year, with your involvement and commitment Relay for Life of the Beaches is looking to reach an even more ambitious goal of $73,000 to support cancer research.

For more than 65 years the American Cancer Society has funded research and training of health professions to investigate the causes, prevention and early detection of cancer, as well as new treatments, cancer survivorship, and end of life support for patients and their families. Over the years, the American Cancer Society has devoted more than $3.9 billion to cancer research and has funded 46 researchers who have gone on to win the Nobel Prize.

Relay for Life of the Beaches is a 12-hour event to raise funds, awareness, support, and celebrate survivors. Starting at 11 a.m., Saturday May 9, individuals and teams camp out at The Oaks at Riverside Park in Vero Beach.

The day will be filled with music and a variety of entertainment. Teams will host campsites with food, games, crafts, and chance drawings. An opening ceremony celebrates the success of the community, immediately followed by the Survivor and Care Giver Victory Lap. The Luminaria Ceremony is a chance to honor or remember someone who has battled cancer.
