Foyer Gallery exhibits Yin and Yang sculptures by Fergus

VERO BEACH — Through the month of November, the Foyer Gallery of Art, located at the Emerson Center, is pleased to present the wall sculptures of Richard Fergus Atkinson, professionally known as Fergus.

Atkinson grew up in Queens, N.Y., and holds degrees from Queens College and New York University. A doctor by career, Fergus has always had a fascination for sculpture and since retirement has been able to explore more freely his chosen medium.

In his fascination with Yin/Yang, which is a minimalist design that avoids unnecessary details, he focuses on the positive/negative shapes and expands on that original theme to create totally new and fascinating sculptures.

There will be a “Meet the Artist” event on Thursday, Dec. 11, from 6-7 p.m. just before the Humanities program.

Foyer Gallery hours are Monday-Friday from 10 a.m.-4 p.m., Sundays 10 a.m.-12 p.m., and before public programs. For information, call Foyer Gallery director Ellen Rantz at (772)-581-5904 or the Emerson Center at 772-778-5249. The Emerson Center, 1590 27th Avenue, is situated on the southeast corner of 27th Avenue and 16th Street.
