EXPLORE: Look, learn, talk, think, try

I’m not sure if it’s my journalistic instincts or just my inability to sit still for long periods of time, but since I found myself unexpectedly living and working in this new place called Indian River County just a few short months ago, I’ve spent a lot of time trying to find out what makes this place tick.

Whether you are a lifelong resident of the county, live here seasonally, are a one time passer-through, a potential tourist, or a newbie to the area (like me), there is real value in genuinely exploring your surroundings.

What I’ve come to realize is, this county is bursting with character, some of it that even flies below the radar of its longest lasting residents.

My goal is to bring these buried secrets, little-known facts, hidden treasures, and interesting people who hide in the shadows, out into the open and shine a spotlight on them.

According to the Merriam-Webster Dictionary, “Explore,” means to “look at something in a careful way to learn more about it.” Further definitions say it means “to talk or think about something in a thoughtful and detailed way. To learn about something by trying it.”

To paraphrase Webster, the whole point of this “Explore” blog is to “look, learn, talk, think, and try.”

Every topic from outdoor sports to historical milestones, to ideas for day trips and more are all fair game.

You can think of this as an opportunity to look, learn, and think about your community on a deeper level. But help a blogger out and engage in some of the “talk” and “try” parts of the blog. Write me with ideas for blog post topics, or try some of my adventures and give me some feedback.

Thanks for joining me on this adventure, and happy exploring!
