VERO BEACH — When the Dancing with Vero’s Stars committee began rounding out the trio of judges for this year’s competition, members Bev and Marty Paris suggested that their Hollywood screenwriter and executive producer nephew Scott Rosenberg join the judge’s dais.
“There are a number of facets that make up the fun and frivolity of the Dancing with Vero’s Stars event”, said Marty Paris. “With the 10 star dancers and their professional instructors at the helm of it all, we cannot ignore the candid, clever, and critical comments and crucial votes by our judges. Scott Rosenberg, and his experience with casting and production, coupled with his brilliant humor and his savoir faire, appeared to be the icing on the cake. Scott loves Vero Beach, so he quickly accepted the challenge.”
If you’re a fan of ABC TV’s Dancing with the Stars or simply a fan of dancing, the Indian River County Healthy Start Coalition is busy putting the final pieces together for the 6th Annual Dancing with Vero’s Stars.
In what is expected to be the best year yet, “Dancing” will take place on the evening of Saturday, May 10, at Riverside Theatre in Vero Beach. Proceeds from this event will benefit the Healthy Start Coalition and Riverside Theatre’s programs and services.
Originally from Boston, Scott Rosenberg has written the screenplays “Things to do in Denver When You’re Dead,” “Beautiful Girls,” “Con Air,” “Disturbing Behavior,” “Gone in 60 Seconds,” and “Highway.”
He co-wrote “High Fidelity” and “Kangaroo Jack,” as well as created and produced the Showtime series, “Going to California” and co-created the ABC series “October Road,” “Life on Mars” and “Happy Town.” Rosenberg also did uncredited rewrites on such films as “Armageddon,” “The General’s Daughter,” “The Day After Tomorrow,” “Runaway Jury,” “Spiderman-Man” and “Pain and Gain.”
Rosenberg recently wrote “Heist” for Steven Spielberg and Dreamworks, which is now out to cast. Also for Dreamworks he is currently co-writing “Fiend” with his brother Phil Rosenberg.
In television, along with his partners in the company Midnight Radio, Rosenberg has set up the pilots “Zoo” at CBS, based on the James Patterson novel; “Portal House” and the “Peter Gunn” remake at TNT; “Police State” at AMC; and executive produces the series “Star-Crossed,” which currently airs on the CW.
In addition, Sony Pictures just bought the Andrew Smith novel, “Grasshopper Jungle” for Rosenberg to adapt into a feature film. Rosenberg divides his time between New York and Los Angeles.
Returning for his sixth go around as judge, is Lance Sexton, owner of Melbourne Ballroom. Sexton brings more than 30 years of top professional dance experience with him to the Riverside Theatre stage. Among his many credentials, he is certified as a Master by the former National Director and World Top Instructor of Arthur Murray and brings his keen eye and art of expression to the judges table.
Returning judge Donna Roberts Mitchell, who in many ways stole the show last year, is not known locally as a dancer, but she is an actress/singer, and a person with the ability to know what it takes to perform on stage.
As co-owner of Idea Garden Advertising and Planet Vero Radio, Donna is astute in media sales, promotions, as a popular voice-over artist and as a radio show host. Her comic timing makes her, not only the hit of the party, but well-seasoned as an emcee, announcer and as a performer on stage.
