Guardian ad Litem needs more volunteers

INDIAN RIVER COUNTY — The Guardian ad Litem Program is seeking additional volunteers.

There are currently more than 1,000 children who live in Okeechobee and the Treasure Coast who are currently under court supervision due to allegations of abuse abandonment or neglect.

Less than 700 of these children have a volunteer child advocate to be their voice in court and in the community.

The 19th Circuit Guardian ad Litem Program is a partnership of staff and volunteers who work to promote the best interest of these children. The Guardian ad Litem Program is seeking additional volunteers in Saint Lucie, Indian River and Okeechobee Counties.

All volunteers receive 30 hours of free training to become a child advocate. To learn more, call 1-866-341-1GAL.
