SEBASTIAN — The public is invited to participate in a ceremony for the proper disposal of unserviceable American Flags on Feb. 22 (Washington’s Birthday), 10 a.m., in Riverview Park.
The ceremony is sponsored jointly by American Legion Post 189 and VFW Post 10210 of Sebastian. A local Boy Scout Troop and the Sea Scouts will also participate.
Anyone who wishes to retire an American flag is welcome to participate, at no charge. Replacement flags will be available for purchase.
Following the ceremony, the proper folding technique for the American Flag will be demonstrated.
If anyone owns a flag that is still in good condition, but soiled, AR Pat’s Dry Cleaning, 720 Harrison St., next to the Riverview Park Veterans Memorial, will clean it, free of charge, throughout the year.
