Commissioner Solari’s motion to table Oslo Boat Ramp Project dies without support

INDIAN RIVER COUNTY — Commissioner Bob Solari’s request to shelve the Oslo Boat Ramp expansion project for a few years didn’t garner support from his fellow board members Tuesday.

In a written memorandum, Solari suggested tabling the project for three to five years due to the unknown harm it could bring to the Indian River Lagoon and the extensive staff time and County resources the project has required.

Solari said he thought the project has “become so controversial and emotional that it is not the best use of time, money and resources, specifically staff time.”

He recognized the extent of any possible environmental damage due to the project has been tremendously minimized.

Solari’s motion to table the project was not seconded and the motion died.

He said he was not surprised nor upset.
