INDIAN RIVER COUNTY — The Indian River County Board of Commissioners unanimously approved a long list of items on its consent agenda on Tuesday morning, including a tax break for Fellsmere, a safe-driving program, and a road resurfacing contract.
Commissioners approved the City of Fellsmere’s request to have the property, 1007 Booker St. in Fellsmere, removed from the tax roll for ad valorem taxes. The formal request referenced the State of Florida Article VII Section 3c “all property owned by a municipality and used exclusively by it for municipal or public purposes shall be exempt from taxation.”
Another item approved on the agenda was Risk Management’s request for funding SAMBASafety, a program that provides monthly monitoring alerts, accident tracking and online driver records of county employees.
According to the memorandum, the purchase of SAMBASafety will cost $9,468 for the first year with a $12,500 annual renewal cost.
As a separate item, Ranger Construction Industries of Four Pierce was awarded the bid to resurface Indian River Boulevard between SR-5/US1 to SR-656/17th St. The bid was awarded for $716,499.50.
