INDIAN RIVER COUNTY – A suspicious item was discovered during the battling of an abandoned house fire in the 4500 block of 16th Street.
The road has been closed just west of 43rd Avenue as deputies and members of the St. Lucie County Explosives Ordinance Device (E.O.D.) Team work the scene.
Motorists are asked to avoid the area.
INDIAN RIVER COUNTY — Indian River County Fire Rescue and the Sheriff’s Office responded to a morning house fire of an abandoned structure Monday, which closed 16th Street, west of 43rd Avenue.
Pedestrians were kept back because of possible ammunition in the building, according to the Sheriff’s Office.
A pipe bomb was also reportedly found by Fire Rescue.
