Three $1,200 scholarships available

INDIAN RIVER COUNTY — The Supervisor of Elections office is now accepting applications for the Florida State Association of Supervisors of Elections (FSASE) scholarship. The association will award three $1,200 scholarships in 2014.

The scholarships will be awarded to three Political Science, Public Administration, Business Administration, Journalism or Mass Communication majors who have completed two years of junior college or undergraduate work and are in good standing.

Applicants must have been a resident of Florida for two years, be enrolled or accepted as a full-time student of a Florida senior college or university, demonstrate a financial need, and be registered to vote.

Supervisor of Elections Leslie Swan will review and interview all applicants and select one finalist to be sent to the FSASE Scholarship Committee, along with a written recommendation.

The FSASE Scholarship Committee will select three winners from the finalists submitted by the supervisors to be awarded a $1,200 scholarship. The three winners will be announced at the FSASE Summer Conference Banquet.

Completed applications, along with two letters of recommendation, one from the college or university last attended and one personal reference, must be submitted to the Elections Office by March 17, 2014.
