It’s been a long time since I’ve been excited about something in the world of social media – the last time was figuring out how to use Pinterest when it reached the level of being a contender in the content sharing world.
This time, one is a rumor and the other was a happy accident.
First, the rumor: Instagram is thought to implement a video sharing function. Mainly, some assume, because of twitter’s Vine.
It’s rumored to be updated tomorrow. I hope this is correct, because like a lot of people I have an android based phone, and Vine is only available on Apple products.
This is according to TechCrunch, who has an unnamed source.
The second, the happy accident: facebook is now apparently using hashtags. I found this out on a recent tweet I copied into facebook to post and forgot to delete the hashtag and it highlighted itself!
At this point I was so excited I yelled out and my editor looked at me like I was crazy.
It’s about time that something new happens in the world of social media. For a while there it was like an avalanche of new tech, and then we hit a dry spell. Well, the drought is seemingly over.
