Vero Beach clarinetist Jennifer Royals featured in Debussy Rhapsody on March 17

VERO BEACH — The Space Coast Symphony will provide a banquet for the soul with “French Classics” at 7 p.m. on Saturday, March 17, at Trinity Episcopal Church, 2365 Pine Ave. in Vero Beach.

Opening the program of all-French composers is Berlioz’s rousing Roman Carnival Overture, which captures the whirling saltarello dance and a fragment of aria. Vero Beach resident and featured clarinetist, Jennifer Royals, performs Debussy’s lovely and intoxicating Rhapsody for Clarinet and Orchestra.

Next is Jacques Offenbach’s Overture to Orpheus in the Underworld, which features the famous Can-Can. Completing the program are the popular suites from Bizet’s Carmen.

$20 advance tickets or ‘Symphony for Everyone’ discounted tickets are available through the orchestra website at www.SpaceCoastSymphony.org or can be reserved by calling (321) 536-8580.

Tickets may also be purchased at one of several convenient ticket outlets, including Marine Bank & Trust (beachside and mainland branches) and Madison Avenue Consignments.

Tickets at the door are an additional $5. Students 18 years of age and under admitted free.

Artistic Director Aaron Collins has included enduring favorites on the program.

“This concert showcases the range of human emotions,” said Collins. “Jennifer Royals, our talented clarinetist, is wonderfully sensitive in the Debussy, while the Carmen suites are tantalizing and the ‘Can Can’ is raucous. In the end, people will leave with their heels kicked up.”
