Orchestra to salute American Icons at Feb. 25 concert

VERO BEACH – The Space Coast Symphony will celebrate “American Icons” with a concert at 7 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 25 at Trinity Episcopal Church, 2365 Pine Avenue, Vero Beach, 32960.

Opening the all-American program is Kenneth Fuchs’ Discover the Wild, a musical romp for orchestra. The Space Coast Symphony will then perform one of Aaron Copland’s most important works, Rodeo, filled with thrilling rhythms and memorable themes.

Celebrated pianist, Jeffrey Biegel returns to Florida to dazzle audiences with a performance of George Gershwin’s unforgettable Rhapsody in Blue. Biegel will also introduce Florida residents to pop legend, Neil Sedaka’s Manhattan Intermezzo, a love note to New York City, infused with the sounds of “The Big Apple” from yesterday and today.

Retired U.S. Army bandleader and American icon in his own right – Hal Gibson, will guest conduct the orchestra in a performance of Morton Gould’s American Salute.

$20 advance tickets or ‘Symphony for Everyone’ discounted tickets are available through the orchestra website at www.SpaceCoastSymphony.org or can be reserved by calling (321) 536-8580. Tickets may also be purchased at Marine Bank & Trust (beachside and mainland branches) and Madison Avenue Consignments. Tickets at the door are an additional $5. Students 18 years of age and under admitted free.
