VERO BEACH — All artists are invited to participate in a Plein Air Artists’ Rendezvous, Thursday, Feb. 16 through Saturday, Feb. 18 to benefit the Cultural Council of Indian River County (CCIRC) and the Environmental Learning Center (ELC). Held on the grounds of the ELC’s 64-acre campus at 255 Live Oak Drive on Wabasso Island, artists will get a glimpse of beautiful, pristine Florida habitat including views of the Indian River Lagoon, boardwalks and trails through a mangrove swamp, a freshwater pond, and the historic Laura Riding Jackson Home, a picturesque Florida “Cracker” house.
Artists who work in any art medium including sculpture and mixed media are invited to participate in any or all of the three-day rendezvous. There is no entry fee, but a percentage of the sale price will benefit the ELC. Completed, submitted works will be exhibited at the ELC and offered for sale during the entire event. The rendezvous culminates at an evening reception open to the public on Saturday, Feb. 18 from 5 to 7 pm.
Following the Feb. 18 reception, works will be transported by the Rendezvous Committee to an alternate site in the Vero Beach Downtown District and will be on display for a two-week period. A second reception will be held on Friday, March 2 during the First Friday Gallery Stroll.
Rendezvous applications are due by January 15 and can be picked up at the ELC, the CCIRC office, or downloaded from either of their websites (see below). Applications are also available at the following Vero Beach galleries: Artists Guild Gallery, Lighthouse Art and Frame, Palm House Gallery and Tropic Art and Frame.
