College, church teams get busy on Habitat jobsite

VERO BEACH: Sleeves rolled up and closed-toe shoes on, teams from 20th Avenue Church of God and the Indian River State College Surg Tech Program joined staff, volunteers and homebuyers on the Oslo area jobsite Saturday, Sept. 24 for a morning of building adventure with Indian River Habitat for Humanity.

During the year, volunteer teams of various sizes come from near and far to join Habitat for anywhere from one weekend morning to several days or even weeks, making new friends and, frequently, learning skills they never thought they’d have as they work side by side with fellow volunteers and Habitat homebuyers working off their required Sweat Equity hours.

If you’d like to learn more about volunteering with Habitat, contact Volunteer Coordinator Jessica Schmitt at 772-562-9860 X212 or jschmitt@irchabitat.org.
