Community invited to attend Youth Guidance open houses

VERO BEACH – Members of the community are invited to visit at either of three Youth Guidance Open House events at their administrative office, 1028 20th Place, Vero Beach.

Tuesday, Oct. 11, from 7:30 – 8:30 am – continental breakfast provided;

Thursday, Oct. 13 from 5:30 – 6:30 pm – hors d’oeuvres served;

Tuesday, Oct. 18 from Noon – 1 pm – lunch available.

Individuals will be able to tour the Youth Guidance offices, meet the friendly staff and ask questions. They will also hear about all of the incredible programs for at-risk K-12th grade youth. People will be able to learn about the many ways they could help the nonprofit achieve their mission: Youth Guidance is dedicated to enriching the lives of children in need in Indian River County through quality mentoring relationships and engagement in educational, cultural and recreational activities that promote positive development of youth in order to help them achieve their full potential.

Please RSVP, 772-770-5040 or bford@ircgov.com, to attend one of the Open Houses and network with others in the community who care about kids. Because while kids are only 25% of the population, they are 100% of the future!

The primary purpose of Youth Guidance is to match each of its nearly 700 at-risk K-12 grade children with a volunteer mentor 21 years or older and keep youth engaged in positive educational, cultural and recreational year-round activities.

Mentors spend just a few hours a week with their mentee doing friendship-based activities that they both enjoy. The agency is actively seeking volunteers to serve as mentors, tutors, or periodic volunteers at ongoing activities for the unmatched children in the program, or to provide regular help in the office.
