Who will be the Champion Dancer at the Family Jamboree?

VERO BEACH — Who is the Champion? The Champion of the dance floor, that is. This year’s Family Jamboree scheduled for Saturday, Oct. 8 at the Indian River County Fairgrounds, will feature a 55+ Dance Contest, presented by Champion Home Health Care.

Dancing will be held from 5 to 8 p.m. in the Exposition Building at the Indian River County Fairgrounds, 7955 58th Avenue, Vero Beach. For those who love to dance but not ready to compete, a “contest-free” dance hour will be held from 5 to 6 p.m.

Although the competition is free, a donation of $10 per couple is requested, to benefit the Family Jamboree, a Community Outreach hosted by CrossLife Counseling.

Dancers will be able to kick up their heels to Len Turner and the American Express Band, who will provide musical entertainment ranging in styles from good time oldies, popular standards, to Latin Music and the latest hits.

Winners will receive great prizes from local vendors and will be selected by a panel of volunteer judges for categories such as Best Costume, Most Skilled, Most Unique and more. Lauren Chapin, best known for her role as the youngest daughter in the long-running TV show Father Knows Best, will be the celebrity judge, and will have a meet and greet as one of the judges of the contest.
