Mardy’s Tennis & Jake’s Music Fest hosts capture the headlines

VERO BEACH — Vero’s own Mardy Fish and Jake Owen, the hosts of Mardy’s Tennis & Jake’s Music Fest, are ready for a blockbuster week. Fish, America’s top ranked tennis player and No. 8 in the world is looking to continue his outstanding play at the 2011 U.S. Open in New York. And Owen has just release his new album, Barefoot Blue Jean Night. The album’s title track has already jumped to the top of the country music charts.

In June, Fish and Owen announced that Mardy’s Tennis & Jake’s Music Fest will return to Vero Beach at Grand Harbor Golf & Beach Club, official host sponsor of event, and Holman Stadium at Vero Beach Sports Village on Friday and Saturday, Dec. 9-10.

Mardy Fish enters the 2011 U.S. Open as the top ranked American player for the first time in his career. The U.S. Open draw sets up a potential quarterfinal showdown between Fish and world No. 3 Roger Federer. Fish is having a career-best season in 2011, reaching the semifinals in Key Biscayne, third round at the French Open, quarterfinals at Wimbledon, finals in Los Angeles and Montreal, and winning the title in Atlanta for the second consecutive year. His successful run continued last week at the Western & Southern Open in Cincinnati, where he defeated Rafael Nadal in singles for the first time in his career to reach the semifinals.

Jake Owen released his third studio album, Barefoot Blue Jean Night, on August 29. The first single, “Barefoot Blue Jean Night,” is the fastest-rising single of Owen’s career, and was recently certified a Gold Selling Single with over 800,000 copies sold. It has already reached the No. 4 spot on Billboard’s Hot Country Songs chart, is No. 3 on Country Aircheck, and ranks in the iTunes Top 20 total downloads for all genres. Owen is currently on tour with Keith Urban.

Supporters of Fish and Owen will have the opportunity to see these stars firsthand as they team up to raise funds for the Mardy Fish Foundation and the Jake Owen Foundation at the sixth annual Mardy’s Tennis & Jake’s Music Fest. Fish and Owen are proud to present an exciting two-day event featuring a Kids’ Tennis Clinic, Reception with live and silent auction and Tennis Exhibition featuring Mardy Fish and other tennis professionals on Friday, Dec. 9.
