INDIAN RIVER COUNTY – Put your teams together now for the Making Strides Against Breast Cancer Walk, Saturday, October 15, at the Sebastian River Medical Center. Registration opens at 7:30 am; walk begins at 8:30 am. Each step you take is personal – each dollar you raise will help save lives. Put on your pink bra this October and help end breast cancer forever.

Your reasons for supporting Making Strides Against Breast Cancer are as unique and special as the story that motivates you. This is your opportunity to not only honor breast cancer survivors and remember people we have lost, but also to raise funds and awareness to help save lives and create a world with less breast cancer and more birthdays!

The Making Strides event is not a race; it is a celebration of survivorship, an occasion to express hope, and a shared goal to end a disease that threatens the lives of so many people we love. When you raise funds for a Making Strides event, you’re helping create a world with less breast cancer and more birthdays – where breast cancer never steals another year from anyone’s life.

While there is no registration fee, people of all ages are welcome to participate and help raise funds. If you’d like to join our efforts to help end breast cancer, please click on the Sign Up button to register as a participant.

Your fundraising support enables the American Cancer Society to save lives by:

Helping people stay well by educating and empowering women to live healthy lives and reduce their risk for breast cancer, and to get screening tests such as mammograms to find breast cancer early, when it is easiest to treat.

Helping people facing breast cancer get well by providing information, day-to-day help, and emotional support to guide them through every step of their breast cancer experience.

Finding cures by investing in and conducting research that leads to groundbreaking discoveries into breast cancer’s causes and cures.

Fighting back by working with legislators to support laws that help fight breast cancer and help all women get access to screenings and care.

In 2010, more than 100,000 walkers across Florida joined the American Cancer Society in our fight against breast cancer. Together, we raised more than $6 million through Making Strides events – and we did it one donation at a time. More than a walk, the American Cancer Society Making Strides Against Breast Cancer is a powerful and inspiring event that unites communities to celebrate people who have battled cancer, raise awareness about the steps we can take to help prevent the disease, and raise money to find cures and support programs and services for those facing the disease.

We need your help to beat this disease! Put on your pink bra and raise funds for Making Strides Against Breast Cancer! You will provide hope and help to millions of people nationwide whose lives have been forever changed by this disease. Join us for a few hours of exercise, inspiration, camaraderie, entertainment, and most importantly, to honor someone you know who has been affected by breast cancer – especially if that person is you.
