The fur’s been flying in preparation for this weekend’s In the Ruff events

INDIAN RIVER COUNTY —  Held each year to benefit H.A.L.O. Rescue and Stray No More, Inc., the In the Ruff Golf Tournament weekend begins with a cocktail party on Friday, August 19 and concludes with the tournament and luncheon on Saturday, August 20 at the beautiful Indian River Club in Vero Beach.

This year’s golf event has already been sold out and is “wait-list only,” according to Joe Kern, Head Golf Professional at Indian River Club.  “We have a field of 112 players and are looking forward to a great day of golf.”  Kern adds “It’s pretty remarkable to have this kind of support for a charity event particularly with the current state of the economy. It definitely speaks to the merits of each organization”.

New this year, is a Friday night poolside cocktail party from 6:30 to 9:30 p.m.  Entertainment will be provided by The Dog Bones, a six piece professional sextet, comprised of four trombones, tuba, and percussion. At 7 pm, the Indian River County Sheriff’s Office K-9 unit will have a demonstration.

Included in the $35 per person cover charge will be complimentary beer and wine, heavy hors d’oeuvres and a Mexican soft and hard taco bar with rice and beans.  RSVP’s are required in advance.

The public is invited to the Indian River Club Saturday from 10 am to 2 pm, where the Florida Veterinary League will host a low cost vaccination clinic with packages available beginning at $25 and rabies vaccines for $10.

Pets that are available for adoption from HALO Rescue will be on-site and looking for new, loving homes.  Professional pet photography by A Misty Moment’s Photography, Misty Lundeen, will take place from 9:30 am to 1:30 pm for $20 includes a CD of the photographs.

H.A.L.O. Rescue, the only no-kill animal shelter in Indian River County, is dedicated to providing a safe haven for abused and abandoned animals waiting to find a new home.  Stray No More, Inc. is a volunteer organization committed to reducing the stray animal population through a low cost spay/neuter program.  All profits will directly assist animals and residents of Indian River County and donations are tax deductible.
