PNC Bank donates grant to The Source

VERO BEACH – The Source is proud to be the recipient of a $7,500 grant award from PNC Bank. Sonya Morrison, executive director at The Source, announced the grant and extended a special thank you on behalf of the Board of Directors to PNC Bank.

The grant will be used to provide hunger relief programs and other critical services to the homeless and those at-risk of becoming homeless right here in Indian River County. The Source is a Christian outreach and resource center for homeless individuals and families at-risk.

The doors of The Source, located at 1015 Commerce Avenue in Vero Beach, are open six days a week to provide people in need with nourishment for the body and soul. The ministry offers daily hot meals, an emergency food pantry, clothing, showers, counseling, support groups and a host of other services.

The Source prepares third Dignity Bus for journey to Rhode Island

VERO BEACH — Leaders from The Source, a local Christian outreach ministry, are preparing to journey more than 1,300 miles to Rhode Island to deliver the agency's third "Dignity Bus." The bus will serve as an emergency shelter to the homeless population in Woonsocket, expanding The Source's services from Vero Beach to a national level. The first two Dignity Buses continue to run as emergency shelters for those in need in Vero Beach. "This will prevent the homeless from sleeping on city benches and sidewalks. Cold weather shelters to open ahead of frigid weekend

INDIAN RIVER COUNTY — Two cold weather shelters will open ahead of a brutal cold front that will drop temperatures into the 30's this weekend, emergency service officials said. Wind chill values - which is what the temperature feels like on a person's skin during windy conditions - will be in the high 20's and low 30's, according to the National Weather Service in Melbourne.
