Education Foundation and Lawyers Auxiliary team up for school supplies

INDIAN RIVER COUNTY — The Education Foundation and the Indian River County Lawyers Auxiliary are partnering to offer “Tools to Learn School Supply Closet” for the start of the 2011-2012 school year.

The goal is to offer another level of support to Indian River County public and independent teachers. A list of available supplies will be available on the Education Foundation website, www.edfoundationirc.org, beginning August 1, 2011.

Primary and secondary schools in Indian River County will have the opportunity to make requests based on need. Principals will review all requests made by their staff to avoid duplication or unnecessary submissions. Requests will be reviewed on the 15th of each month by a committee of volunteers from August 2011 – March 2012.

Through this partnership the Education Foundation and the Indian River County Lawyers Auxiliary hope to offer mini grants. The grants will help to fund items not listed on the “Tools to Learn School Supply Closet” site. Requesting schools will complete a form that will be available on the Education Foundation site.

This year the Community Church of Vero Beach, the Jungle Club, Space Coast Credit Union and Vero Beach Fashion Outlets are joining the effort to raise funds and to collect the following items: dry erase markers, primary markers, glue sticks, copy paper, 1 and 2 inch binders, loose leaf paper (wide rule), pencils, pens, erasers, journals, colored pencils and index cards.

For a list of Vero Beach Fashion Outlets participating stores offering a discount as a thank you for your donation, please visit www.verobeachoutlets.com or call 772-770-6097.

Cash donations can be made by mailing a check made payable to the Education Foundation of IRC, P.O. Box 7046, Vero Beach, FL 32961. Please note in the memo of the check, “Tools to Learn.”

The Education Foundation of Indian River County is a 501c3, non-profit organization that exists to link and engage business and community leaders in the process of supporting and strengthening education in Indian River County. The majority of funding is from private donations and grants.
