Cheer on your favorites in Jawbones vs. Sawbones

VERO BEACH – Organizers, including Barry Segal, Bill Debraal and Rebecca Emmons and fellow competitors have revived a long standing tradition. They’ll be playing in the annual Jawbones vs. Sawbones Charity Softball Game sponsored by First United Bank. The game takes place from 7 to 10 p.m. Saturday, July 30 at Holman Stadium.

All proceeds benefit the United Way. Suggested donations are $5 per person, or $10 per family. Come out and support the United Way, route for your favorite player, and help revive this long standing annual event.

INDIAN RIVER COUNTY — The county is planning a major upgrade to the recently acquired defunct Dodgertown golf course. More than 55 teams to play ball at Historic Dodgertown Labor Day bash

VERO BEACH — Batter up! This weekend will be full of bats and swings as Historic Dodgertown welcomes youth baseball teams from around the state and Georgia to showcase their skills in a Labor Day tournament. More than 55 teams, with players ages 9 to 16, will compete at Dodgertown's nine professionally designed baseball fields, including the iconic Holman Stadium, officials said. The event is expected to bring in more than 1,800 visitors to Vero Beach for the holiday weekend, including players, coaches and families. Presidents Day Tournament welcomes 76 youth baseball teams

Batter Up! Seventy-six youth baseball teams are set to play in the Presidents Day tournament this weekend. Nearly 1,200 athletes ages nine to 18 will take the fields to play ball at the Treasure Coast Presidents Day Challenge, which runs from Saturday through Monday. The tournament will have 11 teams from the states and one team from Canada, according to officials. The tournament, which kicks of Historic Dodgertown's busy sports spring season, is co-sponsored by the Treasure Coast Sports Commission. Youth will compete at Historic Dodgertown and additional off-site locations, such as South County Park in Vero Beach and Lawnwood and Lakewood parks in Fort Pierce.
