Benefit Softball Game being organized to assist local teen

VERO BEACH — A Benefit Softball Game is being organized to benefit 16-year-old Tiffanie Collins, a player on the local Vero Beach Little League Fast Pitch Softball team. Tiffanie suffered numerous injuries, including some which have left her partially paralyzed, when the car she was riding in as a passenger was involved in a car crash.

The event takes place at the ball field behind Rosewood Elementary Magnet School on Sunday, July 3 from 11 a.m. until 2 p.m., and includes raffles, a bake sale and many other fun things to do.

One imaginative activity planned is an adult softball game, with girls from the league’s softball team taking on the roles of coaches and umpires. The cost to play is $10.

Long-time Vero resident Cat Faust, whose daughter plays in the league, has indicated that funds raised will help Tiffanie’s mother to cope with the cost of medical bills and transportation to the hospital during this difficult recovery period.

A PayPal account has been set up for anyone who can’t make it on Sunday but would like to donate. Visit www.paypal.com and click on the account name verosoftball08@aol.com.
