Volunteers needed for Special Olympics Area Games

INDIAN RIVER COUNTY — The Indian River County Recreation Department is now recruiting volunteers for the Special Olympics Area Games which will be held at the North County Aquatic Center in Sebastian on Saturday, August 20 and Sunday, August 21. The volunteer hours will be from 8 am to 2 pm both days.

They are looking for 60 volunteers who will help with staging athletes, timing and awards. Please also save the date for the State Special Olympics Aquatic Championship on October 1 and 2, 2011.

SEBASTIAN — The North County Aquatic Center will close for one month - starting Friday - for several facility improvements, county officials said. The center, which has a public swimming pool, is located at 9450 County Road 512 in Sebastian, just east of North County Regional Park. County aquatic centers, campground to re-open next week

INDIAN RIVER COUNTY — The county's two aquatic centers, along with the campground, will re-open next week with increased cleaning and social distancing practices, officials said. Tuesday, the Gifford Aquatic Center will reopen at 10 a.m. and North County Aquatic Center will reopen at 6 a.m., Indian River County Administrator Jason Brown said. The Donald MacDonald Campground in Sebastian will reopen Monday.
