Volunteers needed for new Humane Society Retail and Adoption Center at Mall

VERO BEACH — The Humane Society of Vero Beach is opening a new off-site retail and adoption center in the Indian River Mall on Monday, August 1 and is looking for volunteers to help staff the site.

Boutique Assistants will work in pairs in the off-site adoption and retail shop located inside of the Indian River Mall. Duties will include: Helping customers, pricing and restocking merchandise displays, taking care of the on-site animals, talking about the shelter and showing animals available for adoption.

There are two shifts available – 9:30 am to 3 pm and 3 pm to 9 pm. They ask for a commitment of at least one regularly scheduled shift per week.

Experience working in a retail or customer service environment is desirable. Volunteers should be comfortable using a computer to ring up purchases, answering the phone, handling friendly cats and dogs and talking about Humane Society’s role in the community. Training will be provided.
