VERO BEACH — Dawn E. Miller, award-winning Vero Beach pastel artist and instructor, has designed a series of creative summer Workshops and Studios on Creating Powerful Compositions and Painting Wind & Water.
The first days of summer when time stretches to the horizon are perfect for artists who want to rev up their skills by learning to create more powerful compositions and/or deciphering the principles behind painting believable skies, clouds, water and reflections. It is also a stress free time for students to develop their own style working on projects with the assistance of excellent instruction and feedback in a supportive Studio atmosphere.
On Friday June 3 and Saturday June 4, Miller will lead a two-day Workshop in painting Wind & Water. The Workshop runs both days from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., and is open to artists at any level working in their chosen medium.
Starting with a basic discussion of the natural principles governing skies, clouds, water and reflections, students will learn to incorporate these principles and elements through the creative lenses of shape, value, color and design into their works.
Cost is $185 per person.
Miller’s Creating Powerful Compositions Workshop from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, June 11, explores ways to turn structurally weak paintings into powerful compositions. With more than 25 years of artistic experience, Miller guides students to a better understanding of the key elements and processes used in building powerful compositions. How the arrangement of shapes and colors create visual impact — give a work extra pow! Artists at any level working in all media are welcome.
Cost is $95 per person
Sundays from May 15 through June 12 are reserved for painters who want to work on their own projects Sunday Studios run from 5 to 8 p.m. with one-on-one instruction offered in a congenial and supportive atmosphere.
Cost is $25 per Studio.
All Workshops and Sunday Studios are held at Jill Pease Gallery, 1125 Commerce Avenue, Vero Beach.
