VERO BEACH — Demonstrating its commitment to the overall health and stability of the local nonprofit sector, the Indian River Community Foundation is hosting a special workshop focusing on new trends in philanthropy.
The workshop, entitled “Ensuring Sustainability of Local Non-Profit Organizations,” will be held from 11:30 am to 1:30 p.m., Thursday, May 12 at Northern Trust, 755 Beachland Blvd., Vero Beach. Reservations are required.
“This workshop is specifically designed to assist board chairs, executive directors and development professionals in the roles they fill within their organizations,” said Kerry Bartlett, Executive Director of the Indian River Community Foundation. “Our intention is to provide
information to help them improve effectiveness and strengthen their organizations’ financial health.”
The workshop is sponsored by Northern Trust and Dean Mead, each of which is providing nationally recognized speakers for the event. Marguerite Griffin, national director of philanthropic services for Northern Trust, will speak about philanthropic trends shaping the non-profit sector.
Joining her from Dean Mead is Jane Dunlap Callahan, a specialist in the field of charitable and tax-exempt organization law, discussing endowment building for non-profit organizations.
“In today’s economic climate, it is critical for nonprofit leaders to pay attention to the elements that will foster long-term sustainability,” Bartlett said.
