Sebastian Student Art Exhibit now at Sebastian Historical Museum

SEBASTIAN – Students in art classes at Sebastian River High and Sebastian River Middle schools have submitted 15 illustrations to be considered for the “EVEN MORE Tales of Sebastian” book to be published by the Sebastian Area Historical Society in late 2011.

Students from the art classes of Andrea Frank, Sebastian River High, and of Pamela Summers, Sebastian Middle, were given brief texts from the book’s manuscript and asked to provide illustrations based upon their interpretation.

The exhibit of the student submissions is currently on view in the Sebastian Historical Museum and will be moved to other Sebastian locations during the summer.

Many of these art pieces will be used in the book.

Darlie Derosiert, Michelle Rivera and Elsie Spagnuolo, of Sebastian River High, and Crystal Cruce, Avery Dixon, Hai Phan, Kathryn Redner, Taylor Reimsnyder, Kyle Smith and Savannah Taflinger, of Sebastian River Middle submitted the pieces.

The book will include oral history interviews and other materials not previously printed by the Sebastian Area Historical Society.

“Tales of Sebastian” was published in 1990. Another book, “MORE Tales of Sebastian,” was published two years later.

The Sebastian Historical Museum is located at 1235 Main Street in the City Hall complex in the Historic Sebastian School.  Hours are Tuesday through Thursday from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.
