Unitarian Universalist Sunday Fund uses offerings to support local groups

VERO BEACH — On a recent Sunday, the Unitarian Universalist Fellowship of Vero Beach presented a check for $531 to the Gifford Youth Orchestra (GYO) in support of its community programs. The check was accepted by GYO program director Crystal Bujol.

This gift was part of the UUFVB SUnday FUnd program, initiated on October 1, 2010. Voted into being by the congregation, the program contributes all undesignated plate offerings each Sunday to social service organizations nominated by UUFVB members and friends.

Five groups were named to receive support this fiscal year, including GYO, which to date has received $1,317 since October, Food Pantry of Indian River County, Homeless Family Center, Gifford Youth Activities Center, and SafeSpace.

The UU Fellowship, offering a liberal religion on the Treasure Coast, is located at 1590 27th Avenue.
