Aretha Eldell Brock, 71, Wabasso

Aretha Eldell Brock, 71, died April 15, 2011, at Indian River Medical Center, Vero Beach.

She was born in Douglas, Ga., and moved to Indian River County with her family at the age of 10.

Before retirement, she was employed as a cook for the Indian River County Head Start Program.

She was a member of the Wabasso Church of God and served as a member of its Women’s Discipleship, Adult Ladies Sunday School Class, Bible Study Class, and the Mother’s Board.

She was educated in the public schools of Coffee County, Ga., and Indian River County.

Survivors include her daughters, Cheryl Williams, of Sebastian, Veronica Smith, of Lauderhill and Sylvia Jean Brock, of Wabasso; brother, Bishop David R. Eldell, of Mobile, Ala.; seven grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by 18 siblings and her husband, Deacon Eddie D. Brock.

Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. April 22 at the Wabasso Church of God in Wabasso.

A homegoing celebration will be at 11 a.m. April 23 at the church, with the Pastor Bishop John A. Thorne officiating.

Burial will follow in the West Wabasso Cemetery in Wabasso.

Arrangements are by Thorne’s Mortuary in Stuart.
