Coast Guard Station Open House

INDIAN RIVER COUNTY — The Coast Guard Station in Fort Pierce will host an Open House Event on Saturday, May 14 to familiarize the public with what the Coast Guard and the Coast Guard Auxiliary do to educate and protect not only the boating public, but the security of our ports, shores, pleasure boaters, and commercial vessels.

It will be a free, family friendly event, with many other public agencies on hand as well.  COASTIE the robotic tugboat will roll about the station interacting with children and adults alike.

Displays will be on land and on the water, with rescue swimmers entering the water from helicopters.  The public will be allowed to tour the facility, board the cutters, view displays of flare usage, pollution control, and other relevant activities.

For more information, call Dan Herrmann, FSO/PA Flotilla 58, at (772) 465-7508.
